Introduction and Purpose
RIDE, operated by Lamar Technology LLC doing business as RIDE, is built to be a safe, respectful, reliable, and premium transportation community. These Community Guidelines describe the conduct we expect from everyone who participates in that community so that riders, drivers, and our team can trust one another on every trip.
These Guidelines apply to your use of the RIDE mobile application, website, driver platform, support channels, and all related services. They work alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Where these Guidelines and the Terms of Service address the same topic, the Terms of Service control.
Who Must Follow These Guidelines
These Guidelines apply to everyone who interacts with RIDE, including:
- Riders who request or take trips
- Drivers who provide trips as independent contractors
- Driver applicants going through onboarding, verification, or background screening
- Account holders of any type
- Guests and additional passengers brought along by a rider
- Anyone who contacts RIDE support by chat, email, SMS, phone, or AI assistant
- Anyone who otherwise accesses or uses the RIDE site, app, or services
Respect and Professional Conduct
Treat every rider, driver, applicant, guest, and member of our support team with courtesy and respect. We do not tolerate harassment, intimidation, insults, threats, stalking, demeaning remarks, or abusive language of any kind. Respect personal space and personal boundaries, and keep conversations appropriate, professional, and consensual. If another person asks you to stop a behavior or end a conversation, stop.
Non-Discrimination
RIDE is for everyone. You may not discriminate against, harass, or refuse service to any person based on race, color, religion, creed, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, age, marital status, pregnancy, military or veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
Drivers may not refuse, cancel, or end an otherwise lawful trip for a discriminatory reason. Decisions about service must be based on legitimate safety and legal considerations, not on a protected characteristic.
Safety First
Everyone shares responsibility for a safe trip. Riders and drivers should wear seatbelts where required, follow all applicable traffic laws, and use safe pickup and drop-off locations. Riders must not interfere with, distract, or obstruct the driver, request unsafe stops or maneuvers, or behave in a way that creates a hazard. Drivers must operate the vehicle safely and lawfully at all times.
Emergency disclaimer: RIDE is not an emergency service. If you are in danger, involved in an accident, or experiencing a medical or other urgent emergency, call 911 or your local emergency services immediately. RIDE support tools and the AI assistant are not substitutes for emergency services.
Violence, Threats, and Weapons
Violence, physical aggression, threats, and intimidation are strictly prohibited. You may not carry or brandish illegal weapons, use any weapon to threaten another person, or behave in any way intended to make a rider, driver, guest, or member of our support team feel unsafe. Conduct of this kind may result in immediate removal from the platform and referral to law enforcement.
Sexual Misconduct and Personal Boundaries
RIDE has zero tolerance for sexual misconduct. Prohibited conduct includes sexual assault, sexual harassment, unwanted touching, explicit or suggestive comments, requests for sexual favors, stalking, indecent exposure, and any form of sexual pressure or coercion. There is no acceptable sexual contact or sexual conduct during a trip or in connection with the platform.
Reports of sexual misconduct may lead to immediate suspension or permanent removal from RIDE and may be referred to law enforcement.
Drugs, Alcohol, and Impairment
Drivers must never operate a vehicle while impaired by alcohol, drugs, or any substance that affects safe driving. Open containers of alcohol and illegal substances are not permitted in the vehicle where prohibited by law, and no person may use illegal drugs during a trip.
For everyone's safety, a driver may decline or end service to a rider who is dangerously intoxicated, threatening, or behaving unsafely. Riders should plan accordingly and treat their driver with respect.
Fraud, Identity, and Account Misuse
Honest use of the platform is required. The following are prohibited:
- Creating fake, duplicate, or unauthorized accounts
- Sharing your account or using another person's account
- Impersonating another person or misrepresenting your identity
- Submitting false, altered, or forged documents
- Manipulating or falsifying GPS or location data
- Payment fraud, including stolen payment methods or unauthorized charges
- Abusing referrals, promotions, credits, or incentives
- Filing fraudulent chargebacks or disputes
Driver Standards
Drivers are independent contractors who hold themselves to a premium standard. As a driver, you must:
- Maintain a valid driver license, insurance, and vehicle registration
- Use a vehicle that meets RIDE eligibility requirements and is the approved vehicle on your account
- Complete and keep current all required background, identity, and document checks
- Keep your profile and vehicle information accurate and up to date
- Not provide off-app or off-platform trips unless RIDE expressly allows it
- Follow all applicable local transportation, airport, traffic, and rideshare laws and regulations
Rider Standards
Riders help keep trips smooth and safe by doing their part. As a rider, you must:
- Provide accurate pickup and drop-off information
- Be ready and present at the pickup location
- Avoid damaging the vehicle or its contents
- Take responsibility for any guests or passengers you bring
- Follow reasonable safety instructions from your driver and from RIDE
- Pay all fares, fees, tolls, cancellation fees, and other approved charges
Property Damage and Cleanliness
Treat every vehicle with care. Damage, vandalism, excessive mess, and leaving trash behind are not acceptable. Where supported by RIDE policy, cleaning fees or damage fees may be charged for messes or damage you cause. If you leave an item behind, contact RIDE support so we can help coordinate its return through official channels.
Service Animals and Accessibility
Drivers must comply with all applicable service-animal and disability accommodation laws and may not deny service on the basis of a rider's service animal or disability. RIDE is committed to accessibility, and we describe only the accessibility features the platform actually supports rather than overpromising features that are not yet available.
[Flagged for attorney review — this section will be finalized after legal counsel reviews applicable service-animal and accessibility requirements.]
Minors and Age Requirements
RIDE accounts are for adults. Consistent with our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, you must meet RIDE's minimum age requirement to create an account or use the platform. Minors may not create accounts or ride alone unless and until RIDE launches an approved teen or family feature and applicable law permits such use. Where RIDE does not offer such a feature, unaccompanied minors are not permitted to use the platform.
Communication and Support
Communicate respectfully with our support team and the AI assistant. Abuse, threats, harassment, spam, and knowingly false reports are not permitted and may result in account action. Please remember that support is not an emergency service; in an emergency, call 911 or local emergency services.
Reports, Investigations, and Enforcement
To protect safety and the integrity of the platform, RIDE may review reports and relevant records to investigate safety, fraud, legal, and policy concerns. This may include trip records, app and device data, in-app messages, location records, payment records, uploaded files, and support communications.
Depending on what we find, RIDE may warn, restrict, suspend, deactivate, remove, or permanently ban an account. Serious matters may be referred to law enforcement. RIDE may act on conduct that occurs on or off the platform when that conduct threatens the safety or integrity of the RIDE community.
Appeals and Review
If your account is restricted or removed and you believe a mistake was made, you may request a review by contacting RIDE at support@ridebylamar.com. We will consider the information you provide, but we cannot guarantee reinstatement, and some decisions are final where safety or legal concerns are involved.
Updates to These Guidelines
RIDE may update these Community Guidelines from time to time as the platform, our community, and applicable law evolve. Where legally appropriate, your continued use of RIDE after an update becomes effective means you accept the updated Guidelines.
