Agreement and scope #
These Platform Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Lamar Technology LLC, the company that operates the Ride platform. They apply to the Ride mobile applications, the ridebylamar.com website, and the related platform services we operate (together, the "Platform").
By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform. Additional role-specific terms apply to riders (Rider Terms of Use) and to drivers (Driver Platform Access Agreement). If a role-specific term conflicts with these Terms, the role-specific term controls for that role.
This document is being finalized for Ride's public launch and is not yet a legally effective agreement. Ride will publish an effective date and version when it takes effect.
Definitions #
- "Ride" and "we" mean Lamar Technology LLC, doing business through the Ride platform.
- "Rider" means a person who uses the Platform to request transportation from an independent driver.
- "Driver" means an independent provider who uses the Platform to receive and fulfill trip requests.
- "Trip" means a prearranged ride requested and matched through the Platform.
- "Account" means the registered profile you use to access the Platform.
Eligibility and minimum age #
You must be at least 21 years old to create a Ride account, and you must have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement. Ride does not offer accounts for minors and does not offer an unaccompanied-minor service.
You must provide accurate information when you register and keep it current. Ride may decline, suspend, or close accounts that do not meet eligibility requirements.
Account registration #
To use most Platform features you need an account with a verified contact method. During registration we ask for information such as your name, email address, and phone number. Some features require additional verification before they become available.
Account security #
- Keep your login credentials private. Do not share your account or let anyone else use it.
- You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account unless it results from a failure of our systems.
- Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission. Email support@ridebylamar.com or call (561) 542-7560.
Identity and contact-information accuracy #
The Platform depends on accurate identity and contact information to match trips, deliver safety features, process payments, and reach you about your account. You agree not to misrepresent your identity, use another person's information, or maintain contact details you cannot access.
Platform role #
Ride is a technology platform. It connects riders who request transportation with independent drivers who choose whether to provide it. Ride does not itself provide transportation services, and drivers are not employees of Ride.
Relationship between riders, drivers, and Ride #
When a driver accepts a trip request, the transportation arrangement is between the rider and the driver, facilitated by the Platform. Ride provides matching, navigation support, communication tools, payment processing through contracted payment processors, and safety and support features. Ride sets platform standards that riders and drivers must follow, but it does not control a driver's decisions about when to be online or which trips to accept.
Availability and market limitations #
The Platform is being prepared for launch and may be available only in limited areas, initially planned for Florida. Ride does not guarantee that the Platform, trips, drivers, or riders will be available at any particular time or place, and availability may change without notice.
User permissions and device requirements #
The Ride apps require a compatible device and operating system. Certain features request device permissions — such as location, camera, photo library, microphone, and notifications — and explain why before you grant them. You can manage permissions in your device settings, but some features will not work without them.
Location permissions #
Trip matching, pickup, navigation, and safety features rely on location information collected while the app is in use. Ride does not collect background ("always on") location. Drivers cannot receive trip requests without location access while online. The Privacy Policy explains what location information is collected and how it is used.
Communications consent #
The Platform sends service communications — such as verification codes, trip updates, receipts, safety notices, and account messages — by push notification, SMS, email, or in-app message. The Electronic Communications and Electronic Signature Consent and the SMS Terms and Privacy Policy describe these communications and your choices. Marketing messages are separate and optional.
Acceptable use #
- Use the Platform only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms, the Community Guidelines, and applicable law.
- Do not interfere with, probe, overload, reverse engineer, scrape, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Platform.
- Do not use the Platform to harass, threaten, defraud, or harm anyone.
- Do not manipulate fares, promotions, ratings, referrals, or location data.
- Do not circumvent Platform payments or arrange paid trips off-platform with someone you met through the Platform.
Fraud and impersonation #
Creating fake accounts, impersonating another person, misrepresenting your identity or vehicle, submitting falsified documents, or engaging in payment fraud violates these Terms and may result in immediate account action and referral to law enforcement where appropriate. See the Account Security and Impersonation Policy.
User-generated content #
You may submit content such as profile photos, messages, ratings, reports, and support requests. You are responsible for your content and must have the right to submit it. By submitting content you grant Ride a nonexclusive license to use, store, reproduce, and process it as needed to operate, support, protect, and improve the Platform. The User Content and Feedback Policy has details.
Feedback #
If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you. Do not send feedback you consider confidential.
Third-party services #
The Platform relies on third-party services — for example, payment processing, mapping and navigation, communications delivery, cloud hosting, and identity or background verification for drivers. Those providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies for the services they deliver. Ride is not responsible for third-party services except where required by law.
Maps and navigation limitations #
Maps, routes, arrival estimates, and navigation guidance are estimates provided with the help of third-party mapping services. They may be inaccurate or unavailable. Drivers remain responsible for driving safely and obeying traffic laws regardless of navigation guidance.
Intellectual property #
The Platform — including the Ride name, logo, apps, website, designs, software, and content — belongs to Lamar Technology LLC or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from the Platform without written permission. The Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy explains how to report infringement.
Suspension and termination #
Ride may restrict, suspend, or terminate Platform access for reasons that include safety concerns, fraud, nonpayment, policy violations, eligibility loss, legal requirements, or misuse of the Platform. The Account Suspension, Deactivation, and Appeal Policy describes the process, including notice and appeal where appropriate. You may stop using the Platform at any time.
Account deletion #
You can delete your account in the app (Settings → Danger Zone → Delete account) or start a deletion request on the web at ridebylamar.com/account/delete. The Account Deletion and Data Rights document explains what deletion affects and what Ride may be required to retain.
Disclaimers #
The Platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ride disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Ride does not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that trips, drivers, riders, estimates, or third-party services will always be available or accurate.
Limitation of liability #
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Ride is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or related to the Platform. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Specific liability amounts and carve-outs will be finalized before this document becomes effective.
Indemnification #
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Lamar Technology LLC and its officers, employees, and agents from claims and expenses arising from your misuse of the Platform, your violation of these Terms or the law, or your violation of another person's rights.
Governing law #
The governing-law and venue provisions of these Terms will be finalized before this document becomes effective. Until then, no specific governing-law or venue clause is in force under this pre-launch document.
Dispute resolution #
Before pursuing a formal claim, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue: Email support@ridebylamar.com or call (561) 542-7560.
Ride has not adopted an arbitration provision, class-action waiver, or jury-trial waiver. A separate Dispute Resolution and Arbitration Addendum has been drafted but is not in force and will not take effect unless approved by counsel and published as effective.
Changes to these Terms #
Ride may update these Terms. Each version carries a version number, and material changes to an effective version will be communicated through the app, website, or email. Where a change materially affects your rights and this document is configured to require reacceptance, we will ask you to review and accept the updated version — after any active trip ends, not during it.
Severability #
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect, and the unenforceable provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary.
