About this agreement #
This Driver Platform Access Agreement ("Agreement") is between you and Lamar Technology LLC and governs your access to the Ride driver platform. It supplements the Platform Terms of Use. This document is being finalized for Ride's public launch and is not yet legally effective; driver onboarding will not be finalized against a non-effective agreement.
Eligibility and application #
- You must meet Ride's driver eligibility requirements, including minimum age, a valid driver license, and an eligible, registered, insured vehicle.
- All application information must be accurate and complete. Misrepresentation is grounds for denial or deactivation.
- Required documents include your driver license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance. Documents must remain valid; you must update expired or changed documents promptly.
- Access to the driver platform is contingent on the screening described in the Driver Eligibility and Background-Check Policy, completed through separate, standalone disclosure and authorization forms — never buried in this Agreement.
- Eligibility is ongoing. You must promptly tell Ride about anything that affects your eligibility, such as license suspension, insurance lapse, or a disqualifying event.
Independent-contractor relationship #
You provide transportation services as an independent contractor, not as an employee, agent, partner, or joint venturer of Ride. Consistent with that relationship:
- Ride does not set your schedule. You decide when to go online and when to stop.
- Ride does not require exclusivity. You may use other rideshare platforms and hold any other lawful occupation.
- You choose whether to accept individual trip requests.
- You are responsible for your own expenses, including vehicle, fuel, maintenance, data, and applicable licensing costs.
- You are responsible for your own tax obligations on earnings received through the Platform.
Trips and conduct on the platform #
- Only prearranged trips through the Platform. Do not accept street hails while using the Platform, and do not arrange paid trips off-platform with people you met through Ride.
- No account sharing and no substitute drivers. Only you may operate under your driver account, and identity checks may be required before you go online.
- Respect rider privacy. Use rider information only to complete the trip, and never for personal contact afterward.
- Location processing while online: while you are online or on a trip, the Platform collects your device location in the foreground to offer and manage trips. This is described in the Driver and Driver Applicant Privacy Notice.
Safe driving #
- Obey all traffic laws and drive safely at all times.
- No distracted driving. Interact with the app only when it is lawful and safe to do so.
- Do not drive while fatigued. The Platform may limit continuous online driving time.
- Zero tolerance for drugs and alcohol while online or providing a trip, as described in the Zero-Tolerance Drug and Alcohol Policy.
Nondiscrimination, service animals, and accessibility #
You must comply with the Nondiscrimination Policy, the Service Animal Policy, and the Wheelchair and Mobility Device Policy. Refusing a rider because of a protected characteristic, a service animal, or a foldable mobility device may lead to investigation and deactivation.
Vehicle condition #
Your vehicle must remain in safe operating condition, meet the Vehicle and Document Requirements, and be reasonably clean for riders.
Insurance and accidents #
- You must maintain insurance that satisfies applicable law and Ride's requirements, and carry proof of coverage while driving. See the Driver Insurance Disclosure.
- Report any accident that occurs while you are online or on a trip to the appropriate authorities and to Ride, and cooperate with insurance claims handling.
- When you report an accident, you must accurately state whether you were offline, online and waiting, en route to a pickup, or transporting a rider.
Ratings, complaints, and investigations #
Riders may rate and report drivers. Ride reviews complaints and may investigate safety, fraud, and policy matters. You agree to cooperate with reasonable investigation requests. Temporary suspension may apply during an investigation, and deactivation may follow a substantiated violation, each subject to the Account Suspension, Deactivation, and Appeal Policy, which includes an appeal process.
Earnings and payouts #
- You receive earnings for completed trips as shown in your earnings statements in the app.
- Ride does not guarantee any level of earnings, trip volume, or demand.
- Payouts are processed through a contracted payment processor; you must complete payout onboarding with that processor to receive funds.
- Platform fees and the payout structure are described in your driver dashboard and fee documentation; the final structure is under review and will be finalized before this Agreement becomes effective.
- Adjustments may occur for refunds, fraud, rider chargebacks attributable to your conduct, or errors, with an explanation available in your statements.
Electronic records #
Agreements, disclosures, statements, and tax documents are provided electronically under the Electronic Communications and Electronic Signature Consent. You should download or print records you want to keep; Ride also retains required records under applicable law.
Changes to this agreement #
Ride may update this Agreement. Material changes to an effective version will be provided to you with an opportunity to review before or at your next session, and reacceptance will be required where configured. Changes will not be forced mid-trip.
Termination #
You may stop using the driver platform at any time and may delete your account as described in the Account Deletion and Data Rights document. Ride may suspend or deactivate access under the Account Suspension, Deactivation, and Appeal Policy. Obligations that by their nature survive — such as payment reconciliation and legal-record retention — survive termination.
