What Ride reviews #
- Application information: identity, age, and contact details.
- A valid driver license.
- Vehicle registration and required vehicle documentation.
- Driving history, reviewed as permitted or required by applicable law.
- Criminal-history screening as permitted or required by applicable law, including a national sex-offender registry search where required.
- Ongoing eligibility: documents must stay valid, and drivers must report changes that affect eligibility (license suspension, insurance lapse, disqualifying events).
- Periodic rechecks, as required by applicable law and Ride policy.
How screening works #
Background screening is performed by a contracted consumer-reporting/screening provider, not by Ride itself. Ride sends the provider an invitation with your name and contact details; the provider collects the rest of what it needs directly from you in its own secure flow and returns results and status to Ride.
Screening happens only after you receive a standalone disclosure and give written authorization in forms provided for that specific purpose. Those forms are separate documents controlled by the screening provider and counsel — they are never combined into Ride's general terms, and Ride does not generate them from template text.
Individualized, lawful review #
Eligibility decisions based on screening results are individualized and made in compliance with applicable background-reporting and fair-chance laws. Automated systems may organize information, but adverse decisions about a driver based on a background report are made by people, not by an algorithm.
Your rights if a report affects your eligibility #
- Before a final decision based on a background report, you will receive a pre-adverse-action notice, a copy of the report, and a summary of your rights under applicable background-reporting laws.
- You will have a reasonable period to respond, correct, or dispute the report before a final decision.
- If the final decision is adverse, you will receive a final adverse-action notice with the screening provider's contact information.
- Disputes about the accuracy of a report go to the screening provider, which is legally responsible for reinvestigating; Ride will tell you how to reach them in the notices above.
- Ride and the screening provider are separate companies: Ride makes platform-eligibility decisions; the provider compiles the report.
Status of the screening program #
Ride's screening integration is built, but the production provider configuration and the provider-controlled FCRA and state forms are still being finalized. Driver approval will not go live until they are complete. This document remains in pre-launch status until then.
