A note on amounts #
This policy explains how charges work. It deliberately does not list dollar amounts: applicable amounts come from Ride's live product configuration and are shown in the app before you confirm an action that carries a charge. That keeps what you see in the app and what this policy says from drifting apart.
Upfront estimates #
Before you confirm a trip request, the app shows a fare estimate (or the calculation method where an exact estimate is not possible). Estimates reflect the expected route, time, and distance at request time.
How the final fare is calculated #
- Time and distance for the actual trip, together with the ride type you selected.
- Tolls incurred on the route.
- Airport, venue, or government-required fees where they apply.
- Taxes where required.
- Additional stops you add and route changes you request.
- Waiting time, if Ride has enabled waiting charges for your market — the app will show this before it applies.
- Demand-based adjustments only if enabled in your market, shown in the estimate before you request.
Cancellations and no-shows #
You can cancel a request or trip in the app. A cancellation charge may apply when a driver has already accepted and committed time toward your pickup, or when you do not appear at the pickup within the allowed window (a no-show). Whenever a cancellation or no-show charge can apply, the app shows it before or at the moment it is incurred.
Authorizations and holds #
When you request a trip, Ride's payment processor may place a temporary authorization hold on your payment method for the estimated fare. Holds are released or converted to the final charge when the trip completes or cancels; your bank controls how quickly a released hold disappears from your statement.
Failed payments #
If a charge fails, Ride may retry it, ask you to update your payment method, restrict new trips until the balance clears, or cancel an unstarted trip.
Adjustments, refunds, and chargebacks #
- If a trip was charged incorrectly — wrong route recorded, duplicate charge, technical error — contact support with the trip details and Ride will review.
- Refund review considers what actually happened on the trip: trip status, driver arrival, route data, and payment records. Ride may issue a full refund, a partial refund, credit, or no refund.
- Chargebacks: if you dispute a legitimate charge with your card issuer, Ride may restrict the account while the dispute is investigated and may provide trip evidence to the processor.
- Fraudulent payment activity leads to account action and may be referred to law enforcement.
Receipts #
After a completed trip you receive an electronic receipt with the trip's origin, destination, and fare details. Receipts are also available in your trip history.
Driver earnings and tips #
Drivers receive earnings for completed trips as shown in their in-app earnings statements. Riders may add a tip where the tipping feature is available; tips go to the driver. Ride does not guarantee any level of driver earnings.
